| The best ECAES in Antioquia |

Back in november, the day after Soda Stereo's concert, which obviously I went to, I had to do the test for superior education quality -ECAES-, which is a two 4-hour blocks test with questions about your career. Also, my girlfriend Ani was visiting me in Bogotá that week. :-)
Well, yesterday the results were published and I got the best score in Antioquia and the 7th in Colombia, among 5415 computer engineers.
Lets hope this recognition brings new opportunities in my life.

Once again, far from home. On July 3rd I started working for Procter & Gamble at Bogotá. For those non familiar with the company, its a multinational owner of Gillette, with brands like Ariel, Rindex, Head & Shoulders, Pantene, Pert, Wella, Duracell, Oral-B... and some others like Pringles, Boss perfumes, and more.
Yesterday I had the on-boarding (brain-wash No. 1). Everything looks fine, people here are very nice, I don't have to wear a tie, and there are a lot of people from Medellin.
As for the apartment, I got one 100m from the building where I work, so I can get from my desk to my bed in less than 10 minutes.
I have some pictures of the apartment and the first days at Fotopic.

After several tests and interviews I have finally won a "prestigio" scholarship of Procter & Gamble, and the oportunity of working there for an internship.
Over 1500 students applied for the program, and only 20 of us got the prize, based in "Outstanding academic performance and excellent leadership capabilities".
The ceremony took place in Bogota, and among the guests were the education minister and the general manager of P&G latinamerica.

| First place in programming marathon |

The team Omegacubo, made up by the Mathematical Engineer students Andrés Mauricio Villegas, Juan David Jaramillo, y Carlos Andrés Vanegas, got the first place in Medellin at the XX National Programming Marathon, and got the right to participate at the ACM Southamerican Marathon, to have place at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota next november 11th. Omegacubo was 12th at national level (among 83 teams), above the contestants from Medellín, Cali and Pereira.

November's event is the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest 2006-2007 (ICPC 2006-2007).
